The students are all studying for careers in hospitality, including front of house and kitchen based roles.
The exchange student programme, the result of a collaboration between Trafford College and Lycée Hotelier de l’Hermitage in Lyon is designed to immerse the students in a commercial environment whilst developing their English language skills.
“The programme has been extremely well received and not just by the students taking part,” explained Natasha Nagra, Talent Resourcing Manager for Kew Green Hotels
“As a company we are committed to building long term relationships with professional colleges, both domestic and overseas. The sharing of skills and knowledge is hugely beneficial to our teams, by creating a diverse and innovative environment.”
Judy Pettavino, a second year catering student based in Lyon worked alongside the kitchen team at Holiday Inn Manchester City, had this to say “The internship has been such positive experience for us, we have really enjoyed our time working within the hotel and have learnt so much in a short space of time.”
The students worked across the Kew Green Hotels portfolio of 54 properties and were reunited in Manchester on their last night in the U.K, along with Natasha and Ros Hardiman, Kew Green Hotels HR Director to bid the students ‘Bon voyage’ They were joined by John Pitt and Lola Docherty, Hospitality lecturers at Trafford College, who were instrumental in the student exchange programme.
John explained “The students have had an unforgettable experience working with Kew Green Hotels, some had never travelled abroad before embarking on this experience. The dedication of the hotels has made this programme a massive success, which is greatly appreciated by the colleges and the students alike. We look forward to continuing the programme and expanding it even further in the coming years.”
