Here at Kew Green Hotels, our 2018 Chef School Foundation programme is well underway, with 43 Apprentices cooking up a storm in hotels across our 55 hotel estate. We have been astonished with the creativity, passion and commitment demonstrated by our Apprentices, and are delighted to know we are undoubtedly creating future leaders in our industry.
Charlotte is one of our Apprentice Chefs, who has shown unbelievable promise since her first day, so we wanted to take five minutes to find out what her experience has been like so far. Charlotte is based at our Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East and is being supported day-to-day by Head Chef, Kerry Gent. Kerry joined us in February this year and working with HIT training, is an integral part of Charlotte’s development in the kitchen.
We asked Charlotte to tell us a little about her experience so far…
“I had been looking for apprenticeships for a good few months and this course was the only one that stood out to me, offering a solid qualification and plenty of opportunities to progress in my career. My time here so far has been a bit of a whirlwind, but I’m settling in well. I really enjoy the variety that comes with working in a hotel.. no two days are the same!”
Charlotte continued – “At the moment I love the rush of service, as I enjoy being busy and having to push myself to know dishes better and therefore prepare them faster. I also enjoy preparing for weddings, as I have never experienced cooking food to that scale before. Overall, I’m loving my time here, learning new things and meeting new people.”
