KGH Digital Award Winners

The KGH awards is an annual tradition that celebrates our best employees and shares their stories. We weren’t about to let the pandemic stop us from singing our employee’s praises and that’s why this year we hosted our first ever digital awards!

We were all dressed up with no place to go and, if we’re honest, we LOVED it! Hundreds of employees tuned in from their own kitchen discos to be virtually together and celebrate!

Put your virtual hands together for the winner of Commercial Hero in Crisis Anthony Rigby!

Anthony, Key Account Manager, has ensured KGH is at the forefront of generating extremely valuable business. With just one of his accounts being the top-performing account in 2020, generating £1.3M in revenue, Anthony enabled us to out-perform competitors since the country went into lockdown in March last year!!


Put those hands back together for our winner of the Safe Hospitality Award, Daniel Reid!!

At a time when safety had never been so at the forefront, Daniel, Holiday Inn Washington’s Line Chef, achieved an SSG score of 99.1% – which wasn’t a surprise considering the effort he made in taking the lead when it comes to safety (including being seen leaving the hotel with the Food & Beverage bible).


Tissues out and a smile raised to our winner of Outstanding Hero in Crisis (hotel), Rebekah Durr! During the early hours of Friday 6th November, a teenage man approached Rebekah, Holiday Inn Runcorn’s Guest Service Assistant, asking for directions. She immediately sensed a reason to be concerned, and instead of sending him on his way, invited him into the hotel for a chat. Her care stretched on throughout the day, but the ending to this story? The young man returned home to his foster parents; not to the bridge where he had originally set out to end his suffering.


Hip Hip Horray for our winner of Outstanding Hero in a Crisis (central support), Donna Painter!

Donna, Regional Accountant, worked tirelessly, day and night, ensuring that there was never a question left unanswered. The operational team felt that without her support, they quite simply wouldn’t have got through the last few months!


Cheers to the winner of Hero in a Crisis – The Details Matter, Nicola Wood!Nicola, Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre’s Financial Controller, has really gone ALL OUT when it comes to turning her hand to new things! Stepping away from the spreadsheets, she has supported with TWO system implementations while checking in guests and delivering room service; all the while delivering some exceptional outcomes within the accounts department for the hotel.


Let’s CHANGE it up and do a jump for joy for the winner of Hero in a Crisis – We Love Change, Vickie Adsetts!

Vickie, Holiday Inn Lincoln’s Business Excellence Manager, ALWAYS has a smile on her face that comes hand-in-hand with a positive attitude and an inspiring approach. Rallying the troops with ease, bringing everyone on property on a journey and helping them to feel positive about the world around them. Not only does Vickie do ALL of this, but she did so within a new role, stepping up to lead the team for the first time.


  

Last but certainly not least, here’s to the winner of Hero in a Crisis – We Trust Our Teams, David Bradley!

David, Holiday Inn Wakefield’s Line Chef, has shown true grit and determination in developing his knowledge, confidence and capabilities through these difficult times. Learning new processes, developing himself, embracing new challenges and seeking out new experiences.


Our final award was for Hotel of the Year. Every other year this has been judged on targets and commercial achievements. So, how was 2020 different?

The hotels we did have open in 2020 were purely for the support of key workers, which in itself is a commendable effort. In addition to this, each of our shortlisted hotels demonstrated target hitting but also adaptability at its finest from the more junior team members stepping into management, to actually preparing for the hotel to become a hospital. They each navigated their way through the most trying time, both personally and professionally, so how could we possibly choose?

Well… we didn’t…
